At four and a half hours in length, For Phillip Guston is one of Feldman’s longest and most ambitious works. Like the abstract expressionist paintings of the piece’s namesake, the work invites listeners to discover their own pathways through its labyrinthine passages of sound and silence. For this performance, frequent collaborators Brigitte Poulin (piano) and D'Arcy Gray (percussion) will be joined by celebrated le NEM flutist Guy Pelletier.
Co-presented with the Open Ears Festival of Music and Sound.
