Featuring The Penderecki String Quartet, Perimeter Chamber Players, DJ Cyclist, Glenn Buhr (piano), and Eric Paetkau (conductor), Disco-next delights in the disconnects of pure disco and its constructive/deconstructive present. This concert celebrates the social freedoms that liberated in the disco movement and explores the ironic and apotheosized settings of disco in contemporary classical works. Featuring ‘Nudisco improv’ by DJ Cyclist, ‘Arabesque’ for violin, piano and string orchestra by Christos Hatzis, ‘Alleged Dances’ for String Orchestra by John Adams, and a new work for dj and strings by Peter Hatch with DJ Cyclist.
