Described as the "theremin queen" by Village Voice magazine, Dorit Chrysler is one of only a few performers in the world to have truly mastered the theremin, an electronic instrument that is played by moving one's hand near to its antennae without actually touching them.
In Performance, Chrysler traverses the realms of popular and experimental music in a manner that is consistently engaging and provocative.
Her performance on the stage of the historic Princess Cinema in Waterloo will be preceded by a screening of Theremin: An Electronic Odyssey, a documentary film that examines the life of Leon Theremin, the inventor and namesake of the instrument.
